Should Children Drink Distilled Water?

The myths about distilled water never seem to end. One myth is that distilled water is bad for children because they won’t be getting the necessary vitamins and minerals that their bodies need to grow properly. Since children are in the growing stages of their life, this is supposed to cause physical complications that will impair them forever. Of course, this is all just an untrue rumor because they will be getting their minerals and vitamins from the fruits and vegetables they eat. In fact, it is actually better to give children distilled water because they won’t be getting any of the toxins or impurities that are in regular tap water. Since their immune systems are not fully developed yet, they are more likely to get sick if they drink water that has impurities in it. By giving them distilled water, you are greatly reducing your child’s chances of getting sick with a flu or virus.

Some people may argue that denying kids the right to regular tap water will not allow their immune systems to get stronger and grow. Again, this is not true either because their immune systems get stronger every time they breathe the air outside or sit next to another kid who has a cold. What distilled water will do is allow their digestive tract to process food and allow their bodies to extract the vitamins and minerals from the foods properly. After all, if a person consumes too many minerals then it could actually have negative health effects on their body. They could have high blood pressure and even panic attacks. Kids that drink mineral water with mineral filled foods may have these problems. On the other hand, by balancing their diet with distilled water and mineral filled foods, their bodies are getting the proper formula of nourishment.

The problem with kids is they don’t generally like to drink any kind of water. They will likely say, “It doesn’t taste good,” which is an excuse even some adults use. If your kid won’t drink water, then at least prepare their foods using distilled water. That way they won’t get as many impurities in their spaghetti, vegetables or any other food you prepare for them with water. So as you can see, distilled water is not harmful to children or adults. As long as you give children natural healthy foods to eat, the distilled water will only benefit them more. You can always add minerals to distilled water if you wish to give them another source of minerals.

Benefits of Drinking Distilled Water

Distillation is the cleanest type of water purification there is. For awhile, there have been rumors that distilled water drained your body of minerals to make up for the water’s own lack of minerals. However, this myth is not factual and people need to understand that there are only benefits from drinking distilled water. There is no magic force that will drain your body. In fact, there is really nothing in the water at all, which means it is virtually impossible for it to hurt you in any way.

The best part about distillation is that it removes all of the toxins, waste, and other impurities from the water. It also removes the minerals, but you can get these from eating foods and vegetables. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about having a lack of minerals in your water. Besides, mineral water is a type of “hard water” that can damage your cardiovascular system if it is consumed too much. Distilled water is softer and lighter, which means it doesn’t cause any negative health effects or weigh you down. This results in having an increase in cellular energy and better lung function for proper breathing. Also, distilled water will help you digest your food faster than mineral water because it is lighter and will pass through you faster. You will notice an increase in weight loss and even a lower amount of stress than you are used to. People often don’t think about how their nutrition affects their mood, but they really do coincide with each other. If you drink distilled water then you will feel better than you ever have with any other water.

Distilled water has been used by people for cosmetic purposes as well. The idea is that when you take a regular hot shower, the hot temperature opens up the pores of your skin and lets in all of the impurities from the regular tap water. If you use an automatic distillation machine, then it will make all the running water in your house turn into distilled water. That way you can take showers using distilled water, which will allow only clean water to hit your skin. The results will be less acne, rashes, and skin irritations. Distillation machines only cost a few hundred dollars, while some of the bigger ones cost a few thousand dollars. It really depends on the size of your home, but the money is well worth it if you think of it as an investment into your health. If you have old pipes (over 30 yrs old) distillation for your entire house is not recommended because old pipes are made out of Iron, and distilled water can cause serious damage to iron.

The Rainwater Distillation Myth

Back in the old days, distillation would be done in one of two ways. People would either boil water over a fire or they would simply catch rainwater and then drink that. The rainwater method was a method that required the least amount of work because it involved simply capturing and containing the falling rain. The reason rainwater is similar to distilled water is because it evaporates and condenses just like in other distillation methods. The only difference is that nature does all the work on its own. By today’s standards, this might sound like a bad thing to do because of all the acid rain and contaminants in the air. But before mankind was involved in heavy industry, the air was clean and the water that fell down from the sky was pure. People would simply take large clean containers and leave them outside for catching rainwater. Once a container filled up with water, it would be left outside for an additional two days in order for the minerals to completely dissipate. Then the water would be stored in jugs or whatever containers they had available during the time period.

Rainwater can still be a good source for distillated water, but you will need to do some extra filtering in order to make sure the dirt particles and debris is completely out of the water. The minerals will already be gone from the natural raining process, so all that is left is for you to run the water through a filter after it is contained. You can choose any filtration method you want for this. You could buy a filtered mug or a filtration machine to filter water that you pour into it. Of course, the better option would be the machine, a water distiller, because it will do a more thorough job of cleaning the contaminants out of the water. Then, you will have a new source of distilled water that you won’t even need tap water or bottled water to produce. This will save you lots of money because you won’t ever have to buy water again, depending on the amount of rainwater you end up storing. If you live in a rainy area of the world like Seattle, Washington, then you can expect to store lots of water in no time. Best of all, you will be environmentally responsible by using rainwater as your distillation source. If more people around the world could learn from this method then perhaps no one would suffer from thirst ever again.

Distillation: Myths Exposed

When we shop for water at the supermarket we generally look for purified water that comes in a bottle. What exactly is purified water? To a layman person, it means that the water has been filtered and cleaned of all impurities. However, purified water still contains its vitamins and minerals that the body needs to survive. On the other hand, the distillation process completely wipes out everything from the water, including the minerals. This means the water does not contain anything in it at all. So, does this mean drinking distilled water is bad for you? A popular myth about distilled water is that it extracts the vitamins and minerals from your own body when you consume it. This is totally ridiculous and untrue. Distilled water cannot extract minerals from your body’s cells; however, it won’t give the cells minerals either. But, this does not mean the water is bad for you because it can still help your digestive system process foods. Besides, drinking water with too many minerals in it has been known to cause cardiovascular health problems in people. Many of the purified waters sold in stores have “flavoring enhancing” minerals added to the water that already had minerals in it to begin with. This means the water is oversaturated with minerals, which will likely cause you health problems. Distilled water is a soft type of water that will not negatively affect your health in any way.

You might be thinking, “Where do I get the minerals and vitamins for my body if not from the water I drink?” The simple answer to this is from natural foods, like fruits and vegetables. You should be eating these anyway if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you eat fruits and vegetables on a regular basis then you won’t need to get your vitamins and minerals from water. The only time you will need mineral water is if you are eating junk foods, like donuts and potato chips, on a regular basis. One of the main reasons why obese people have such severe health problems has to do with them not drinking any water or eating any natural foods. With that kind of lifestyle, the body is getting zero vitamins and minerals. Now you could compensate for the junk food by drinking the mineral water, but you have to take into account the negative health effects of the fats and sugars in those foods as well. Therefore, the best choice you can make is to drink distilled water and eat fruits and vegetables. This is the right combination that will help you live a long and healthy life.

Using a Water Distiller

Spring water, distilled water, Bottled water, tap water: is there really a difference between the Fout? You may surprise to find out that there is a difference. Distilled water, in particular, is water that has had almost 100% of its contaminants removed. This is done by boiling water until vapor is created, leaving the salts and heavy metals behind. The svapor is then collected and then cooled again so that it is returned to its liquid form, thereby creating pure water. This can be enticing to anyone who is interested in having a pure source of drinking water.

Although a distilled water diet is tempting and common, there are other uses for distilled water that can be used around the home. This includes cleaning, cooking, preserving fruits and vegetables, and using in steam irons to press clothes. Drinking distilled water will taste much better, and will help you to get the recommended glasses of water each day in order to keep you hydrated. But you don’t have to buy distilled water at the store, you can make it right from the convenience of your home.

A water distiller comes in a variety of sizes, but many of them are small enough to fit on your countertop. Capable of removing close to 100% of the contaminants that can be found in water; they are likely to save you a lot of money that you would be spending on bottled water. Purchasing a bottle of water may cost upwards of a dollar, while making a gallon of distilled water at home may cost just a few cents. Over time, the money you save will outweigh the initial cost of the water distiller.

 

How to Use a Water Distiller

Using a water distiller is rather simple and it’s actually easier than using a coffee maker. The vessel must first be filled with tap water, placed into the machine and then turned on. The water is then heated, and the steam is collected and converted back into water. This water is stored in a separate receptacle, leaving the contaminants behind to be cleaned or thrown away. In a matter of a few hours, the water will be completely distilled and will be ready to drink.

Water distillers are easy to maintain, as they can be cleaned with a simple vinegar in order to remove the calcium build-up that occurs. Simply fill the distiller with one part water and water part vinegar and leave it to sit overnight. It is recommended that the distiller never be used while there is vinegar or any other cleaning solution inside it as this may damage the normal function of the distiller.

A water distiller also comes equipped with a carbon filter, which has to be changed every two hundred gallons in order to ensure the quality of the water you are drinking against VOCs.
