Consumers have never been more health conscious than they are right now. In the old days, people didn’t really think about nutrition when it came to the foods they ate and the water they drank. The reason is because food and water used to be natural and clean on their own. We didn’t have all the pollution, contamination, pesticides and so forth that we do in the present. Consumers are starting to catch on that clean water is essential to have in every aspect of their lives, such as for drinking, preparing foods and even bathing. There have been a lot of mixed ideas about what kind of water is the cleanest and healthiest for people to consume. Often times, you will hear that filtered or purified water is the best choice and that distilled water is not as healthy because it destroys all the natural minerals in the water. What people don’t realize is that distillation is just one method for purifying water. There are lots of different purification methods out there, like reverse osmosis and deionization. However, distilled water is the best way to guarantee that all the bacteria and impurities of your water have been killed. The other two methods of purification do not offer you this same guarantee.

There are all kinds of gadgets on the market now that allow people to turn their ordinary tap water into distilled water. This means that people don’t have to do the traditional method of boiling the water in a pot and then condensing the steam into a container. However, most of the gadgets sold in stores are only filters that remove a small percentage of the impurities, but not all of them. If you don’t mind boiling your drinking water, then the traditional method of distillation should not be a problem. But, what do you do about bathing and showering? You could buy bottles of distilled water at the store, but it would take a lot of one gallon jugs to fill up a bathtub. This is why more people now are seeing the value of investing in an automatic water distiller machine for their homes. This is a machine that can pump out vast amounts of distiller water very quickly. It connects to the pipes of every faucet, bathtub and shower in your home, which means you can bathe in distilled water just by turning your water on like normal. The cost of the machine ranges from the hundreds to the thousands, depending on the size of the machine you get. Consumers realize that this is an investment in their health because it keeps impurities out of their skin and body.

Distillation is a process in which sea water is boiled and then condensed from steam or vapor into a container to make sure all the impurities are removed from the water. The water, which is cleaned through distillation process is called distilled water. This water is also used for different purposes besides drinking. This water is used in different engines, factory machine systems, batteries, industries, biological laboratories, steam irons, and other similar purposes.

This type of water is also used for other purposes; it is used in different diets for health purposes. Many people use this water in order to lose weight. This water leaves an impact on the health of people and helps them lose weight rapidly – and this method is preferred by many of these types of people. Some people claim that if this helps in losing weight, then why do most of the bodybuilders use it in their diet? The answer is that the bodybuilders plan their diet which could give them nutrition, proteins, and calories. This water contains, being pure, helps body builders absorb better the nutrients they take and get rid efficiently of everything in excess. They use this distilled water diet to avoid gaining wait as well, by speeding up their metabolism. The use of this type of water is the secret for many people’s healths.

The process of distillation can also be done cheaply at home. There are several equipments or devices which are used to distill water, and one of them is called a water distiller. This equipment produces the water within a relatively very short time, and if the equipment is available at home, then there are no worries in getting this water from other sources (and it’s cheap to make too!).

Many people have argued over the years whether drinking distilled water or tap water is better for you. However, many people go into these arguments not knowing what the differences are. Distilled water is something that most people use in their irons or old car batteries, but there is much more to it than that.

 

How Distilled Water is Made

Distilled water is created by simply boiling water to the point of creating steam. It is this steam that is collected and then cooled down again to create fresh water. Through this method, impurities and contaminants are removed in order to create fresh tasting water. The impurities are left behind because they have a much higher boiling point than water, and so won’t evaporate with the vapor. It’s a healthy and safe method of creating fresh, drinking water at the fraction of the cost of the equipment that is used to create bottled water. The process can even be used to create fresh drinking water from salty ocean water, leaving the salt behind, along with other potential contaminants.

 

Health Benefits of Drinking Distilled Water

If you have a water distiller, then you may already be aware of the health benefits that may arise from drinking distilled water. Drinking water alone is a regular practice to have as it keeps the body hydrated and helps to regulate the normal functions of the organs. However, contaminated water can introduce chemicals to the water than can make you sick and affect your organs as well. With distilled water, none of those chemicals or pollutants is present, providing you with the cleanest drinking water possible. Having a distilled water diet included with your regular diet will improve energy levels and keep you at your brightest.

 

The Many Uses of Distilled Water

Other than drinking distilled water has been used in steam irons for pressing clothing, as it is free of any minerals that could ruin the iron after extended use. This means that you can have professionally-pressed looking clothes for much longer by using distilled water.

Distilled water has also been used to top off the lead acid in a car battery. This prevents ions from interfering with the normal function of the battery and altering the normal charge to the vehicle that a car battery provides.

When it comes to cleaning, distilled water is the best thing to use on computer monitors and flat screen televisions, as they won’t leave a residue behind and won’t affect the quality of your picture. This is much different from using tap water as it typically leaves a white residue behind.

Finally, distilled water can be used as an excellent preserver for storing vegetables and fruits. Because the water is free of any contaminants and minerals, these vegetables and fruits in distilled water tends to last longer, retain their color and flavor.

Is Distilled Water and Tap Water any Different?

As human beings, staying healthy is one of the most important goals. With the body being made up of up to 70% water, staying hydrated is vital to our health. However with more people becoming more and more informed on healthy living practices by the host of information available to them via multiple channels, it is important to have the right information to make the best lifestyle choices. When it comes to drinking water, the most important choice is whether to drink distilled water or regular tap water. Here, the opinions and recommendations are varied perhaps due to profit motives.

 

Water as a Source of Minerals

The main question to ask here when choosing between drinking distilled water and tap water is what are some of the functions of water? Water is one of the sources of minerals that we ingest on a daily basis. These minerals, such as calcium and magnesium are essential in multiple bodily functions. By eliminating all the minerals from water by use of a water distiller, you deny the body of these vital minerals. However, it is important to note that water is not even among the highest sources of such minerals for the body with food, milk and supplements providing a substantial part of the body’s daily requirements. Water only contributes an insignificant part of these requirements, about 3%, which can be substituted with other sources. This means that drinking distilled water does not deprive the body of a substantial amount of minerals, and neither does drinking tap water increase the amount of minerals consumed substantially. In fact, you can always add minerals to distilled water.

 

Water to Regulate pH Levels

The body needs to be slightly alkaline as per the pH scale to maintain optimum operation levels. The pH scale measures from 0-14, indicating whether a substance is acidic, neutral or alkaline. An argument terming distilled water as acidic has been constantly leveled against it. Distilled water easily dissolves CO2 from the air and resultantly becomes slightly acidic due to the formation of carbonic acid. Consuming this solution is said to increase acidity levels in the body. On the other hand, mineral-rich water is slightly alkaline from the rich composition of minerals and salts that are all alkaline.

This argument is however dispelled by the counter argument that the body has the ability to regulate itself and keep the pH level as required. Tap water also has the ability of absorbing CO2 from the air but at lower levels compared to distilled water especially due to its composition of a wide variety of impurities; Because tap water has lots of impurities, it cannot absorb too much of anything else.

The arguments between a distilled water diet against normal mineralized water continues to rage on, but it has no basis. And for those who still want minerals, they can be easily be added to distilled water.

Before diving into the safety issues with distilled water, let’s give you some overview of it first. It’s the top of the line when it comes to purified water from which harmful materials or minerals are removed before use. They have variations as they differ in boiling points, number, or types of minerals removed, etc. The water is condensed before being ready to be consumed.

The first question that would come up about drinking distilled water is that who can use this water? In fact, anyone can drink this water as it’s pure and good for health. Although many important minerals are absent from this water as removed during the purification. As it concerns safety, the water distiller used for purifying water can be contaminated which makes the water unsafe. Sometimes, even the containers make this water impure although the purifier is safe.

Distilled water diet is helpful and safe if you want to improve your fitness to a certain level. It is said to be an accelerator for the healing and building mechanism of out body. It is also known to be as a optimal food source because it helps to reduce calories by adding no extra calories and burning some. Again, there is no safety issue that may concern you when you are taking healthy measures for your fitness as several studies confirm.

Some health specialists identify distilled water as not only safe but also helpful benefits in the remedies of Alzheimer’s, Arthritis, and Heart diseases. Many studies find that this water relieves from headache pains, soften the skin, and flush out the lymph, which carries harmful toxins out of the body.

 

The concern with distilled water starts with some very old incomplete studies that claim that this water might reduce one’s lifetime as it contains little or no minerals at all. Some identify it as potentially dangerous because our bodies need the regular water quite often to maintain a balance, which, as they say, is disturbed by the extensive use of distilled water. People who fast for longer than 7 days might sometimes fall in health danger if they continue drinking distilled water because they might lose electrolytes like sodium, potassium, chloride, and magnesium, which keep the heart pressure as low as required. This problem can easily be solved by adding minerals to your distilled water.
