Are You Drinking Poop? The Truth About Bottled Water

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Bottled water is made out to be the healthiest option. Of course, when you think about the people promoting it, you see those who have made it and people selling it. There are rules and regulations regarding bottled water but they don’t necessarily lead to the best options. You could actually be drinking poop!

How Is Bottled Water Made

Bottled water goes through a slight purification process. It is nothing like distilled water, which removed 99.9% of the contaminants, but it is considered better than some tap water. This depends on the manufacturer and companies bottling it. The FDA supports chemical-free water but the regulations allow for some impurities, including faecal matter (yes, poop)!

In fact, tap water is safer, where the regulations are much stricter. With tap water, there is no faecal matter allowed. If this is found, then the supply from that particular area must be stopped and changes made to make it suitable for human consumption again.

E-Coli in Your Water

The regulations for bottled water also allow some e-coli to be present. This can lead to health problems and sickness. This isn’t allowed in tap water, nor will it be found in distilled water. Bottled water can make your organs struggle to function and knock years off your life. Is it really worthwhile?

According to some studies, there has even been arsenic found in some bottled water! This is a poison, so it’s no wonder why so many people in the world are struggling with sickness bugs and illnesses. There are simply no rules in place for bottled water to be tested for parasites. Healthy adults may not suffer as much from these, but the sick, elderly and very young really will.

The Testing of Bottled Water

Of course, bottled water is tested but only once a week. Is that really enough for your water to be tested? Tap water is tested many times within a week to make sure it is always healthy for consumption. It is clear that you have no idea what you are drinking when you reach for that bottle of water off the shelf.

You really could be drinking poop. Sure, that is possible with tap water but it is less likely due to the testing and the strict regulations. If in doubt, remove all the impurities with distilled water.

Bottled Water vs. Distilled Water: What’s Really the Best Option?

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

There is a major battle between bottled and distilled water. Manufacturers of bottled water will tell you it is the best but that simply isn’t necessarily true. Distilled water is almost 100% pure. There are very few chemicals and contaminants found, especially when it comes from the plastic bottles.

The Regulations Surrounding Bottled Water

The regulations surrounding bottled water are nowhere near as strict as those surrounding tap water. It is very common to find e-coli and other impurities in bottled options, due to the process that it goes through. Studies have found poisons and faecal matter. This just isn’t possible with distilled water.

The distilled process means that the water is evaporated and condensed at least twice. The impurities are removed and most of the time you will have water that is 99.9% pure. It improves your health and the flavour. Consider it this way: your kidneys don’t have as many calcium deposits, so they function properly without stones!

Chemicals in the Plastic Bottles

You need to really think about the type of bottles that you buy. Plastic bottles used for bottling the drinking water are full of their own chemicals. These get into your water and cause problems, including hormonal imbalances and health issues. You could find that your testosterone levels are much higher than they should be, leading to all types of problems in males and females.

There are some links to cancer. For those who have a bottle of water now and then, you won’t need to worry too much. The cancer is linked to long term use. However, if you can, avoid the plastic and drink distilled water out of a glass.

The problem is that distilled water can lead to these issues if drank out of plastic. If you are on the go, look for bottles that are made with materials that don’t have all the chemicals. There are some that are approved by the FDA and are safe for adults and children.

The manufacturers want you to believe that their distilled water is the safest but that is not necessarily true. There are a lot of chemicals to consider; chemicals that are removed when the water is distilled. It is not just the water though; you need to think about what you’re drinking out of!

Some Water purification processes

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Distilled water is excellent for the health but how do you get this pure water? Some people believe that there is just one way and it doesn’t actually help you. However, there are three popular methods to create this pure water. While they may not be beneficial at home to do it yourself, understanding them will help you choose the machine to buy.

Reverse Osmosis to Create Water – Almost as good, but expensive

Reverse osmosis is one of the most popular options to filter water. It works by pushing water through a membrane. The pressure is high so all the water will go through the fine mesh but many of the chemicals and contaminants can’t fit through the gaps. The pressure isn’t enough to damage the membrane. The water on the other side of the membrane is pure and ready to drink.

This may have to go through a couple of processes to remove all the chemicals but it does give almost pure water in the end. For those looking for systems, these ones are generally more expensive due to the technology, Distilled water using a water distiller is cheaper and faster.

The Way Nature Works

Distilled water can be created in the same way that nature works. Nature pulls water out of the lakes and seas and turns it into a gas. That water is then turned back into a liquid when it rains. You can do this for distilling to remove the chemicals and impurities. However, it takes time and uses up a lot of space. The good news is that there are systems that will do this, called water distillers.

Using UV Rays

A third option to get clean water is through the use of UV rays. UV rays are commonly viewed as dangerous but not when used in moderation on water. The water goes through an extra filtration process and creates safer water than regular tap water. However, it is also the most expensive system.

Using Distilled Water for Your Fish Tanks – How to Make it Safe

October 11, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Since distilled water is so beneficial for your own health, it is common to think that it will be healthy for your pets too. This depends on the type of pets that you have. When it comes to fish, you will usually find that the only way to give them distilled water is if the water has minerals in it.  Minerals can easily be added to distilled water, though.

Distilled Water can have Minerals through Remineralization

You will hear regularly that the distilled process removes all the minerals from water because it’s pure water, like nature intended. While this isn’t a problem at all for humans because Humans get almost all of their minerals from food (and humans get many benefits from distilled water), it is a problem for fish. Fish need these minerals; it is the only way they get them sometimes. However, Distilled water in combination with addition of mineral supplements in the water will create an almost perfect condition for most fish, this is because distilled water is free from impurities, and by adding minerals to distilled water, all you’re left with is pure water and minerals, which is as good as it can possibly get for Fish.

You shouldn’t use normal tap water. This is just as bad as using pure water without the minerals! Tap water is full of contaminants and impurities that will affect the fishes’ lives.

Using Distilled Water in a Fish Tank

The good news is that you can still use distilled water but you need to take a few extra steps to ensure the best water for your fishes. Distilled water doesn’t have the impurities, meaning that it is great, as long as the minerals are added for the fishes well being. There are products to do just that.

The supplements will need to be added on a regular basis to keep it healthy for the pets. You can even use the supplements in saltwater tanks; although you will need much more.

Distilled water is excellent for a fish tank as long as you take some extra steps. The water doesn’t have the impurities but it doesn’t have the minerals either. Take a trip to the pet store or online store, you can stock up on supplements and allow your fishes to live in contaminant-free water that is full of minerals they need to thrive on.

Is Distilled Water Safe for Your Dog or Cat?

October 11, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Distilled water is excellent for human health. Even though minerals are removed, those minerals can be gained in other ways. It would seem like the same thing could happen with other pets, especially dogs and cats. Distilled water is safe for your dog and cat in certain situations and always if you Remineralize Distilled Water.

Dogs and Cats Need the Minerals, in General

Your pet needs the minerals from the water. If you used distilled water, you are using pure water that doesn’t have the essential minerals. These include calcium and magnesium, among many others.

Distilled Water is Clear, Clean, Healthy, and Pure water. It helps your dog or cat better digest food and may even prevent urinary problems. But, while dogs do get a lot of their daily mineral needs from foods, they need some minerals in their water too. So, Distilled Water is Safe for your dog and cat as long as the pet drinks it no more than two or three times a week. And again, Distilled Water is not only Safe for your dog and cat in short amounts but it is also beneficial.

But surely the animals can get the minerals from food? Pet food isn’t designed with this in mind. You could offer your pet human food but its body isn’t designed to digest it all. The minerals will go to waste and your pet will struggle throughout the day. Its own food is specifically designed to match the digestive system and needs.

Why Mineralized Distilled Water Is Safest for your Dog and Cat

Your pet might get ill from drinking tap water if the water has contaminants (and many sources of tap water indeed do have contaminants!). Just because you drink tap water and not get sick, it doesn’t mean your pet will not be affected negatively by it. If it is full of impurities and contaminants your dog or cat may have problems you don’t even know about because they can’t talk, obviously!  It may also mess with the digestive system of the pet. Not good.

Tap water is full of minerals, especially potassium, which animals need. There is research into how a lack of potassium affects pets and how Mineralized Distilled Water can solve issue.
