Is Distilled Water Safer Than Tap Water

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Tap water is considered to be somewhat more contaminated water than the advanced home filtration systems. However, this is a belief that bottled water manufacturers want you to believe. The truth is that tap water is relatively safe; but is it safer than distilled water? It is important to look into where the water comes from and treatment processes that they go through.

Strict Regulations Surrounding Tap Water

Tap water is actually safer than bottled water. It goes through a lot of processing and is under strict regulations. If certain impurities are found in the water, like faecal matter, the supply has to be stopped and the water will need to come from somewhere else. This doesn’t happen with bottled water; the regulations aren’t as strict.

However, there are some contaminants that get through. There are chemicals and impurities that can lead to health problems. These are usually caught through the many checks throughout the week but some are allowed to remain. This is where the distillery process comes in.

Removing the Chemicals from Your Tap Water

Distilled water is much safer than tap water—but you can use tap water to get it! You simply add the water to a water distiller machine and it will remove the chemicals, impurities and contaminants usually found. There is no need to buy expensive bottles of water. In fact, using tap water and putting it in a water distiller is better, as it will take fewer rounds to remove the chemicals.

By distilling your tap water, you will have almost 100% pure water. This not only offers more health benefits, it will taste much better.

Watch Out for Bottling

You may want to take your water on the go with you. Whether plain tap water or distilled water, you can still expose yourself to chemicals by accident. These come from the cheap plastic bottles that you use. Chemicals from the plastic lead to imbalances in the hormones and are linked to cancer. There are some materials used that will avoid this so you can drink on the go, so look out for them.

Tap water is actually quite safe but distilled water is better for you. While tap water does go through some very strict regulations, the distilled water removes the majority of leftover chemicals. It is worth spending that extra money for a water distiller and then using the tap water through it.

What Makes Distilled Water So Healthy?

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Distilled water offers many health benefits. It helps the kidneys to function properly and removes toxins from the whole body. It also tastes nicer. But what makes distilled water so healthy? Why is it considered better than any other type of water available?

Removes the Impurities Found in Water

Tap Water isn’t pure. There are chemicals, contaminants and other impurities in it. This can be due to the manufacturing process or the type of material the water runs over to get to the taps. When it is distilled, the majority of those impurities are removed. The water is evaporated and then condensed, but the impurities don’t get through the filtering system and many don’t even evaporate at the same temperature as the water.

While distilled water will never guarantee to be 100% pure, it is 99.9% pure if using a commercially available water distiller. There are fewer risks of the contaminants interacting with toxins already in the body and causing kidney stones.

No Chemicals from Materials

Bottled water isn’t just full of contaminants in the water; it has chemicals from the plastic bottles. Tap water doesn’t have this but then you are hoping that your taps are fully cleaned on the inside and the piping doesn’t have various chemicals that are bad for the body. When it comes to materials, you can never be so certain.

You can with distilled water. The process that removes the chemicals from the water removes those that are added due to the materials. It isn’t bottled (unless you choose to do that), so you don’t need to worry about the plastic chemicals either. If you choose to bottle it to drink it on the go, you can find items that are designed for pure water to keep the freshness and purity.

How Does Water Become Pure?

There are two methods for that make water pure. The first  and best method is distillation , by evaporating and then condensing the water. The steam goes into a separate jar where it is cooled and turned back into water.

The second process is reverse osmosis. This is where the water is pushed through a fine membrane at a very high pressure. The chemicals catch the membrane and cannot pass through, leaving the pure water on the other side. Not as pure as Distilled water but a good second choice.

However it happens, it is important to know that distilled water is good for you. It offers many health benefits worth investing in.

How You Can Use Distilled Water

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Water is the second most important thing for the human body. It needs it for the organs to work properly, the brain to function and the blood to pump around the system. The skin needs it to shine and the hair needs it to look luxurious. When you think about water, you may just think about drinking it. However, there are many ways to add distilled water into your day.

The Obvious Way: Drinking the Water

Of course, drinking it is the most obvious and often the most beneficial. Drinking distilled water will offer many health benefits. In fact, drinking any type of water offers benefits to the body. It is easier to digest and will get to each of the organs needed. Often, you feel hungry because your body actually needs the water. Try drinking a glass of distilled water before snacking to see if that is the problem.

Adding Water to Your Food

Another way of using distilled water is through your cooking. You could make a soup or stew with water, you could pour it on your cereal or add to porridge instead of milk or you could use it for the preparation to make a stock or gravy.

Whenever you need to use water in cooking, reach for the distilled option because it makes your food taste better. There aren’t the chemicals, so flavour of the food is enhanced instead.

Preparing Your Food with Water

Water is often used for preparation. You may add it to a mix or use it to cook your pasta in. You can also use it for making up baby food. Distilled water is excellent for this. Similar to cooking with it, you will find that the flavour is enhanced, while offering more health benefits by using it.

The next time you decide to bake, use distilled water. You may find that missing “ingredient”.

Making Drinks with Distilled Water

While drinking pure water is great, sometimes you want a little extra flavour. You may make juice or decide on a hot drink. Distilled water will bring out the flavour and is perfect for whatever you choose to use.

There are many ways to use your distilled water to gain all the benefits. Drinking it pure is the most obvious way but add it to your cooking and baking and you will soon taste the difference.

Some Water purification processes

October 13, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Distilled water is excellent for the health but how do you get this pure water? Some people believe that there is just one way and it doesn’t actually help you. However, there are three popular methods to create this pure water. While they may not be beneficial at home to do it yourself, understanding them will help you choose the machine to buy.

Reverse Osmosis to Create Water – Almost as good, but expensive

Reverse osmosis is one of the most popular options to filter water. It works by pushing water through a membrane. The pressure is high so all the water will go through the fine mesh but many of the chemicals and contaminants can’t fit through the gaps. The pressure isn’t enough to damage the membrane. The water on the other side of the membrane is pure and ready to drink.

This may have to go through a couple of processes to remove all the chemicals but it does give almost pure water in the end. For those looking for systems, these ones are generally more expensive due to the technology, Distilled water using a water distiller is cheaper and faster.

The Way Nature Works

Distilled water can be created in the same way that nature works. Nature pulls water out of the lakes and seas and turns it into a gas. That water is then turned back into a liquid when it rains. You can do this for distilling to remove the chemicals and impurities. However, it takes time and uses up a lot of space. The good news is that there are systems that will do this, called water distillers.

Using UV Rays

A third option to get clean water is through the use of UV rays. UV rays are commonly viewed as dangerous but not when used in moderation on water. The water goes through an extra filtration process and creates safer water than regular tap water. However, it is also the most expensive system.

Is It Better to Make Your Own Bottled Water?

October 11, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Bottled water is convenient. You can take it with you anywhere and drink on the go. You can store it in your handbag or briefcase, take it to the gym and buy it in different flavours. However, it is possible to make your own bottled water. You can opt for distilled water and put it in your own bottle. But is this really better?

Bottled Water Full of Impurities

Look into the regulations surrounding bottled water. The manufacturers and people selling it will lead you to believe that it is safer for you but that’s not really the case. The regulations are much stricter on tap water than bottled water. Bottled options still have some impurities—some of those hazardous to your health. Removes those impurities.

There is also the factor of the bottle. These are full of chemicals that can cause hormonal imbalances and cancers. It is really important to research the type of plastic that is used. Not only can it harm your body, it can also harm the environment; making it worse for you to live in the future.

Distilled Water –  Bottle it Yourself Is Cheaper

Distilled water is safer and it is also a cheaper option. The cost of the Water Distiller may seem high at first but this is an investment. If you really have the time and space, you could cut the cost of the Water Distiller and do it yourself using your own utensils. Once you buy the Water Distiller, it will run for a few years and all you need is a couple of safe bottles to use for travelling.

It is amazing how much you can actually spend on bottled water, depending on the size you buy. After a year, you will have spent more on bottled water than on the Water distilling machine. The Water Distiller really is worth the investment; not to mention it is healthier for you.

Benefit from making your own distilled water and bottling it. You know that the impurities from the water have been removed and the bottles are safe to drink from. There are manufacturers offering bottles that are 100% safe and don’t have all the chemicals that cause health issues. In the end, you will also save money by making and bottling your own distilled water.
