How Distilled Water is Different from Tap Water

February 20, 2023 By DistilledWaterAssociation

Water is essential for our bodies to function properly. However, not all water is created equal. In fact, the quality of the water we drink can have a significant impact on our health. Many people choose to drink tap water, assuming it is safe and healthy. However, there are other options available, such as distilled water. In this article, we will explore the differences between distilled water and tap water.

What is Distilled Water?

Distilled water is water that has been purified through a process of distillation. This process involves boiling water until it turns into steam, and then collecting and condensing the steam back into water. The result is water that is free from impurities such as minerals, chemicals, and bacteria. Distilled water is considered to be the purest form of water available.

How is Distilled Water Different from Tap Water?

Tap water is the water that comes out of your faucet at home. This water has been treated to remove impurities, but it is not necessarily pure. In fact, tap water can contain a variety of contaminants, such as chlorine, lead, and bacteria.

One of the biggest differences between distilled water and tap water is the level of purity. As mentioned above, distilled water is considered to be the purest form of water available. This is because the distillation process removes impurities from the water, leaving only pure H2O.

Another difference is the taste. Tap water can have a slightly metallic or chemical taste, depending on the level of contaminants in the water. Distilled water, on the other hand, has a clean and pure taste.

Benefits of Drinking Distilled Water

There are several benefits to drinking distilled water. Because it is free from impurities, distilled water is easier for your body to absorb. This means that your body can more easily flush out toxins and waste products, which can lead to better overall health.

In addition, distilled water is an excellent choice for people with allergies or sensitivities to certain minerals or chemicals. By removing these impurities from the water, distilled water can be a healthier and safer option for those with sensitivities.

Finally, drinking distilled water can also help to maintain the pH balance of your body. When you drink water that is too acidic or too alkaline, it can throw off the balance of your body’s pH levels, which can lead to health problems. Distilled water has a neutral pH level, which can help to keep your body in balance.

Is Distilled Water Right for You?

While distilled water has many benefits, it may not be the right choice for everyone. Some people may prefer the taste of tap water or may not want to go through the extra steps of distilling their water. Additionally, because distilled water is free from minerals, it may not provide the same health benefits as mineral-rich spring water.

If you are considering switching to distilled water, it is important to consult with your doctor to determine if it is the right choice for you. They can help you weigh the pros and cons and make an informed decision about your water choices.
