Fact or Fiction: Distilled Water Myths Debunked

October 11, 2013 By DistilledWaterAssociation

There are a lot of things that people say about distilled water. Some of them are made up, often by the bottled water companies, and you need to be aware of the truth. However, others do have some truth to them. It is important to know the fact from the fiction so you can make the best decision for your health when it comes to the water you drink.

Distilled Water Removes All Minerals

The distilled process removes all the minerals from the water. This point is true but that doesn’t mean the water is very bad for you.

One important point to make is that most humans don’t get their minerals from water. They get them from food and other drinks. If you have a healthy and balanced diet, you will get all the minerals and vitamins that you need and there is no need to worry about your health.

Distilled Water Takes Minerals from Your Body

People believe that because the water doesn’t have an minerals, it will take the minerals from your body. This simply is not true.

There has been no evidence to back this theory up and it doesn’t even make sense. The water doesn’t take the minerals away, it would add them to the body. Think of it from the impurities side. The water doesn’t take the impurities out of your body—it helps to cleans your body through its natural detoxification ways. If it doesn’t remove impurities through your skin, why would it remove minerals?

There Is No Nutritional Value to Distilled Water

Due to the lack of minerals, some people believe that there is no nutritional value. This is, again, false.

The water offers many other benefits, even though there are no minerals. The distilled process removes all the impurities. There are fewer risks of getting kidney stones because the level of calcium is under control and there is little chance of being poisoned, like you could with bottled water. Distilled water is one of the most healthiest option that you can drink.

Before you start listening to the things people say, know your myths from your facts. There are many distilled water myths but many have been debunked. Distilled water is healthy and the lack of minerals does not mean that your body will suffer for it. Focus on a healthy and balanced diet!
